Al Baleed Archaeological Park, also known as Al Balid or Al-Baleed Archaeological Site, is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the coastal city of Salalah in the Dhofar region of Oman. This ancient maritime city was a trading hub that flourished between the 8th and 16th centuries, playing a significant role in the trade of frankincense, an aromatic resin used in incense and perfumes. Visitors can explore the remains of the grand mosque, palace, and city walls, as well as the evidence of the city's extensive trade with Africa, India, and China. Excavation and restoration work give insights into the area's historical importance. The park also houses the Land of Frankincense Museum, which provides an in-depth look at the region's trading history and archeological findings. The surrounding landscape is a unique combination of beach, sea, and palm groves, creating an evocative atmosphere that underscores the historical significance of the site.
