Must-Try Foods In Al Jassasiya Rock Carvings (Al Zubarah) For Tourists 2026 - 2027

Food History of Al Jassasiya and Al Zubarah, Qatar

The Al Jassasiya rock carvings and the ancient town of Al Zubarah offer a glimpse into Qatar's historical gastronomy. Given its location on the coast, the diet in these areas traditionally relied heavily on seafood, dates, and pearls, as the economy once revolved around fishing and pearl diving. The intertwining of different cultures, due to trade and pearl diving, introduced various spices and culinary techniques that have shaped Qatari cuisine over time. Nevertheless, today's Qatari cuisine is quite diverse and influenced by Arabic, Indian, Persian, and African flavors and dishes.
