Best Time To Visit Al Mukalla (Yemen) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Al Mukalla, Yemen

The coastal city of Al Mukalla in Yemen, known for its historical significance as a former British colony and a significant port, experiences a desert climate. The best time to visit Al Mukalla is generally between November and March when the temperatures are more temperate and the humidity levels are relatively lower. During this period, the weather is pleasant, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), offering a comfortable environment for exploring the city's attractions, such as the historical Sultan Al Kathiri Palace or the busy fishing port. Nights are cooler, making it an ideal time for leisurely strolls along the beaches or dining outdoors. This is the peak tourist season, so planning your visit well in advance is recommended to ensure accommodation availability.

Conversely, the period between June and September should be avoided if possible, as temperatures soar as high as 35°C to 40°C (95°F to 104°F). Humidity also increases, which can make outdoor activities and sightseeing quite challenging. However, if this is the only time you can visit, consider indoor activities or venturing out in the early morning or late evening when it is slightly cooler. It's also worth noting that occasional rain showers can occur from July to August, providing a brief respite from the heat. While planning your visit, keep in mind that the region can be affected by the monsoon season, and it is essential to check the local weather forecasts and advisories.
