Ang Thong National Marine Park is a pristine archipelago of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand with towering limestone mountains, thick jungles, white-sand beaches, fertile mangroves, waterfalls, and hidden coves and lakes to explore. The area is home to a variety of exotic wildlife and sea creatures. The park covers about 102 kmĀ² of which about 82% is water. Snorkeling, hiking, sea kayaking, diving, and simply relaxing are the main activities to enjoy here. Most visitors come to the park on a day trip from Koh Samui, which is the most convenient and accessible way to explore the park's natural beauty. Koh Samui is known for its pristine beaches, luxury resorts, and fun nightlife, but the Ang Thong islands, protected as a national park since 1980, offer a tranquil escape into nature. Stunning viewpoints and trails on some islands such as Koh Wua Talap and Koh Mae Ko provide rewarding panoramic vistas of the archipelago, making these a highlight of the region for many travelers.
