Hin Ta and Hin Yai, or Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, are famous rock formations located on the southern coast of Koh Samui island in Thailand. These natural sculptures strikingly resemble male and female genitalia, hence their names. Folklore suggests that the rocks are the transformed bodies of an old couple, Ta Kreng (Grandfather Kreng) and Yai Riem (Grandmother Riem), who died at sea while trying to sail to a neighboring province to arrange a marriage for their son. Due to their unique shapes, these rocks have become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors are often found taking pictures and enjoying the surrounding views. The site also offers a picturesque panorama of the sea and is close to other attractions such as beautiful beaches and markets. Local vendors and souvenir stalls are available in the vicinity, making it a lively spot for tourists to browse and shop. The rocks also symbolize fertility and many couples visit them to pray for children.
