Best Time To Visit Bactrian Camel Safari (Hunder) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Bacterian Camel Safari in Hunder, Ladakh

The optimal period to partake in a Bactrian Camel Safari in Hunder, nestled in the picturesque region of Nubra Valley in Ladakh, is during the summertime, specifically from June to September. These months are characterized by warm and pleasant weather, creating ideal conditions for tourists to comfortably engage in outdoor activities. The temperature during this time typically ranges from 15°C to 20°C during the day, which is suitable for camel safaris. Furthermore, the summer's clear skies provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, including the majestic dunes and stark mountains.

One should avoid planning their visit during the winter months, from October to May, as Ladakh endures extreme cold with temperatures that can plummet to below -30°C. The region is also likely to experience heavy snowfall, rendering roads impassable and leading to limited accessibility to Nubra Valley. During the recommended period, besides the camel safari, visitors can explore nearby attractions like the Diskit Monastery and appreciate the unique beauty of the high-altitude desert. It's a great time to witness the cultural richness of Hunder and the neighboring villages, which often conduct local festivals and events in the summer.
