Baijnath Temple is a revered shrine located in Baijnath town of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, India. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Vaidyanath, the Lord of Physicians. Constructed in 1204 A.D. by two merchant brothers from the region, Baijnath Temple is a beautiful example of medieval North Indian Temple architecture known as Nagara style. It is particularly noted for its intricate carvings and stone sculptures. The temple complex comprises the main shrine of Baijnath or Vaidyanath and smaller temples of other deities. One of its remarkable features is the lingam enshrined in its sanctum. According to legends, it is said that Ravana worshipped Shiva at this site to gain invincible powers. The Baijnath Temple is both a spiritual destination and tourist attraction due to its historical importance and architectural beauty. The temple stands as a heritage of the artistic excellence of the period and sees a steady influx of pilgrims all year round.
