How to Reach Bentota Beach

Located on the South-West coast of Sri Lanka, Bentota Beach is a popular destination known for its golden sands and crystal-clear waters. There are several ways to reach Bentonga Beach for travelers coming both from within Sri Lanka and from abroad.

By Air

The closest international airport to Bentota is the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo. From here, visitors have a few options:

• Air transfer: Helicopter and sea plane transfers can be arranged to locations close to Bentota.
• Taxi: The most convenient option is to take a taxi directly to Bentota, which will take about 2 hours depending on traffic.

By Road

Taxis and Rental Cars: Renting a car or hiring a taxi from Colombo is a more flexible and private way to travel. The journey normally takes around 1.5 to 2 hours via the Southern Expressway.
Buses: There are public buses that run from Colombo to Bentota regularly. Look for buses heading to Aluthgama or Galle and get down at Bentota.

By Train

The coastal train journey from Colombo to Bentota is scenic and highly recommended. Bentota is served by its own railway station, and the ride takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Train services are relatively frequent, and first to third class carriages are usually available.
