Bhadra Tiger Reserve, located in the Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts of Karnataka, India, is a sanctuary for diverse flora and fauna and is part of Project Tiger. The reserve spans an area of approximately 492.46 km2 and is situated in the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rich biodiversity. The landscape encompasses dry deciduous forests, moist deciduous forests, and semi-evergreen forests, offering a habitat to a wide variety of wildlife such as the Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, leopard, gaur, and several species of deer. The sanctuary, named after the Bhadra River which flows through the forest, also supports over 250 species of birds, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching.
