Bhimkund is a natural water reservoir located near Baripada, in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, India. This scenic spot is about 265 kilometers from Bhubaneswar, the state's capital. It is renowned for its religious significance and natural beauty, which attracts a large number of tourists and pilgrims. According to legend, the Pandavas spent some time here during their exile, and Bhima, the second brother, used to bathe in this kund (pool), hence the name Bhimkund. The pool is known for its crystal-clear blue water and is believed to be unfathomably deep. It is set amidst the lush, dense forests of Eastern Ghats, and river Baitarani flows by the side of it, adding to its charm. The place is also famous for the festival Makar Sankranti when a fair is held, and thousands of devotees take a dip in the holy waters, believing it to cleanse their sins.
