Bhismaknagar Fort, situated in Roing of the Lower Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh, India, is a symbol of historical significance and architectural marvel from the 12th century. The fort is considered to be associated with the legend of Lord Krishna and his consort Rukmini. Spread across an area of 10 square kilometers, the fort stands on a hillock. Although in ruins, the remnants of the fort have brick structures, which are a rare sight in the predominantly wooden architectural traditions of this region. Excavations at the site have led to the discovery of terracotta figurines, potteries, and decorative tiles showing a high level of craftsmanship. The fort is surrounded by dense forests and provides a serene and tranquil atmosphere away from the buzz of city life. The archaeological site is also important because it indicates the influence of ancient Indian culture in this part of the country, which was once the nerve center of the Chutia kingdom.
