Type of destination: Beach
Ideal visit duration: 1-3 days
Bulabog Beach, on the eastern side of Boracay Island in the Philippines, is renowned as a prime kitesurfing and windsurfing destination. The 2.5-kilometer-long beach presents a different vibe than the famous White Beach on the opposite side of the island; it is quieter and less crowded, offering a haven for water sports enthusiasts. During the peak wind season, from November to April, the beach becomes a colorful spectacle of kites with windsurfers and kitesurfers gliding across the turquoise waters. Unlike the powdery white sands of White Beach, Bulabog has a combination of sand and reef, which can be rough underfoot, especially at low tide. A number of schools and rental shops line the beachfront, providing lessons and equipment for all levels of experience. Accommodations ranging from basic hostels to more upscale resorts are available along the beach, meeting the needs of different travelers. The area also has a selection of restaurants and bars, although nightlife is more subdued than on the island's western side.
