How To Reach Castel Nuovo (Naples) In 2026 - 2027

Reaching Castel Nuovo in Naples, Italy

Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, is a medieval castle located in the heart of Naples, Italy. It's easily accessible through various modes of transportation including public transit, driving, and by foot, depending on where you're coming from.

By Air

If you're arriving by plane, the nearest airport is Naples International Airport (Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino). From the airport, you can:

• Take the Alibus shuttle service that connects the airport with the central train station and the port. Get off at the port (Molo Beverello) and the castle is a short walk away.
• Rent a car from the airport and follow the signs leading to the city center ("centro") and then the signs for Castel Nuovo.
• Take a taxi directly to Castel Nuovo. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting the journey or ensure that the meter is running.

By Train

If you're travelling by train, your central hub would be Naples Central Train Station (Napoli Centrale). From there:

• Take the metro Line 1 and stop at Municipio, from where Castel Nuovo is within walking distance.
• Board a bus that goes to the seafront; look for routes that stop near Piazza Municipio.

By Car

If you are driving:

• Use a GPS system and enter "Castel Nuovo" or "Piazza Municipio" as your destination.
• Parking can be challenging in Naples. Look for authorized parking garages near the waterfront or Piazza Municipio.

By Foot

If you are already in the city center of Naples:

• Castel Nuovo is located near many popular areas, such as the Royal Palace (Palazzo Reale) and the city's main shopping districts.
• Walking along via Toledo or via Chiaia will lead you to Piazza del Plebiscito. From there, the castle is just a short walk away.

Note that Naples has narrow, bustling streets that can be confusing to navigate, so having a detailed map or access to a navigation app on your mobile device is highly recommended.

By Boat

If you're arriving by sea at the Port of Naples (Porto di Napoli):

• The port is located very close to Castel Nuovo. You can simply walk out of the terminal and the castle is in plain sight.

Remember to check the current operating times for public transport and any possible travel disruptions before making your journey.
