Central Market, also known as Pasar Seni, is a cultural landmark in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Established in 1888, it originally functioned as a traditional wet market. Over time, Central Market has evolved into a hub for Malaysian arts, culture, and handicrafts. The art-deco style building was revamped in the 1980s to become a handicrafts outlet. Now, this heritage building stands as a colorful destination showcasing the nation's rich heritage with vendors selling a variety of traditional goods such as batik, embroidery, souvenirs, and collectibles. It also hosts numerous cultural performances and events, which makes it a great place for tourists to experience the local culture and find unique gifts. The market is organized in sections representing different ethnic communities in Malaysia, like the Malay, Chinese, and Indian lanes, giving visitors a taste of the country's racial diversity. Central Market is located within the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown and is easily accessible by public transportation, making it a must-visit for an immersive cultural experience.
I went to the Central Market a few times while visiting Kuala Lumpur. I found the complex to be clean and well organized. Most of the shops were catered to tourists as they sold Kuala Lumpur souvenirs..
Nice air conditioned market area with good variety of stalls and plenty of souvenirs on sale. Clean & tidy too. The art area was particularly interesting and you can sit and paint your own batik pictu..
Interesting and comfortable shopping experience - sellers not at all aggressive - respectful and easy going atmosphere - very clean and perfectly air conditioned - especially in hot days (more or less..
An enclosed 2 storey building with many gift shops. Directly across pasar seni station. One famous putu bambu stall at 5RM for box of 5.

Nice marketplace for tourists
Nice air conditioned market to walk in with several shops selling artwork, handicrafts and assortment of clothes and accessories. There’s also cafe and food court of sorts to get drinks and snacks.
