Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful and serene wildlife refuge located near Jamshedpur, in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, India. Spread over an area of 195 sq km, it rests on the Dalma hills with its highest point at 915 meters above sea level. Established in 1976, the sanctuary is a haven for a variety of wildlife, most notably Asian elephants. The forest-covered hills provide a perfect backdrop for hiking and trekking, with well-laid paths leading to the peak offering panoramic views of Jamshedpur and the surrounding countryside. Besides the pachyderms, the sanctuary hosts a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including barking deer, sloth bears, porcupines, and a variety of bird species. The sanctuary also features several streams and two prominent waterfalls, Sitaguldi and Dassam, adding to its natural beauty. It’s an important conservation site and serves as a crucial corridor for elephant migration between Jharkhand and West Bengal.
