Dammam is the capital city of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, situated on the Persian Gulf. It is one of the country's most important commercial hubs and ports. Dammam features a blend of traditional Arabian culture and modernity, with its developed infrastructure and the beautiful Corniche, a spectacular waterfront area. The city is known for hosting various cultural festivals and events, such as the Dammam Shopping Festival, and it boasts numerous parks and recreational areas. The King Fahd Park, for example, is a large, lush oasis in the city. Dammam is also a gateway to the nearby Aramco compound of Dhahran and the picturesque city of Khobar, which, along with Dammam and Dhahran, forms part of the Dammam Metropolitan Area. Al Danah is among the popular residential areas here and accommodates the Sharqiyah Corniche, Al Morjan Island, and a variety of shopping and dining venues. The city's economy is driven by oil and gas as well as shipping, and it's home to expansive petrochemical complexes such as the Dhahran-Dammam-Khobar clusters.
