Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area is situated on the fringes of Pingtung County, in Taiwan’s southern region. Covering approximately 175 hectares, it is the largest lagoon in Taiwan. The bay is encompassed by a diverse ecosystem made up of wetlands, mangroves, and sand dunes. A unique feature of Dapeng Bay is the opening and closing of its lagoon mouth, which has been engineered to control water levels and improve the local ecology. This procedure occurs periodically and attracts many visitors. The scenic area is popular for a variety of water sports and activities like sailing, canoeing, and windsurfing. The bay area also hosts the annual Dapeng Bay International Regatta, making it a hub for sailing enthusiasts. The Luermenma Temple is a notable cultural site nearby, rich in folklore and festivities.
