The island is famous for its hanging bridge and old temple. The hanging bridge Situated on the lifeline of Odisha, River Mahanadi, this 11th century Shiva Temple is connected to the mainland by the longest suspension bridge in Odisha. Built by the state Government with NABARD assistance, this first of its kind bridge in the state was completed and opened to public in 2006. This magnificent structure is 254 m long and 2 m wide. It is the longest suspension bridge in our country. This bridge facilitates for the coming of the devotees to pay their reverence to lord Dhabaleswar After entering the temple, you can see various beautiful images in the compound of the temple. Various images of Nrasimha, Varah, Katikeya and various identified and unidentified Gods of Hindu religion are present in the temple. Most images are beautifully chiseled out from black chlorite stone.
