Dodda Sampige Mara, often referred to as the 'Big Champak Tree', is a magnificent and sacred grove located in the Biligiriranga Hills (B.R. Hills) of Karnataka, India. This tree, which is over 400 years old and stands at an impressive height, is considered an object of worship by the local Soliga tribe, who perform rituals and offer prayers here. Surrounded by the deciduous forests of the Western and Eastern Ghats, this natural marvel is part of the B.R. Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, providing an ethereal experience amidst the rich biodiversity. The name 'Dodda Sampige' means 'large Champaka tree' in the native Kannada language, and the tree is known for its large, fragrant, and yellow flowers which are used in various ceremonies. The vicinity of the Champaka tree is serene, often enveloped in a gentle mist, with the sound of birdsong and the nearby Cauvery and Kapila rivers adding to its tranquility.
