Traveling to Film City in Dukhan, Qatar

Located roughly 40 kilometers from Dukhan city, Film City is an intriguing attraction reminiscent of an ancient Arabian village and is a popular spot for filmmakers and tourists. Below are the best ways to reach Film City:

By Car

Private Vehicle: The most convenient way to visit Film City is by private car. You can either drive your own vehicle or rent one. From Doha, take the Dukhan highway (Q3) westwards. After passing through Dukhan, follow the signs to Zekreet. From there, a dirt track leads to Film City and instructions may be obtained from the local visitor center.
Car Rental Services: Rent a car from Doha or Dukhan. Make sure to select a vehicle suitable for off-road conditions since the approach to Film City includes unpaved desert tracks.

By Taxi or Private Hire

Book a taxi or private hire service like Karwa or Uber. It's advisable to arrange for the same taxi to pick you up as finding transport for the return journey may be difficult.

Guided Tours

Guided Excursions: Several tour operators in Qatar offer trips to Film City as part of a larger tour package which also includes visits to nearby attractions such as the Zekreet Peninsula and the Richard Serra sculpture "East-West/West-East".

Important Tips:

Prepare for the Trip: Since Film City is located in a remote desert area, make sure to carry water, food, a first aid kit, and other necessities for your journey.
Navigation: Use a GPS device or mobile app with offline maps as signal reception may be unreliable.
It’s important to check the open days and hours of Film City, as they can vary and may be closed to the public during private events or film shootings.
Wear appropriate clothing for the desert environment and consider the cultural expectations of dressing modestly.

Note:

The last part of the journey to Film City includes driving on unpaved desert roads. Visitors should be comfortable driving in such conditions or opt for a guided tour that includes transportation.
