The Gardens of Babur, also known as Bagh-e Babur, is a historic park in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is the final resting place of the first Mughal emperor, Babur. Dating back to the 16th century, the gardens are one of the oldest surviving Mughal garden sites. They cover about 11 hectares of land and are laid out in the classic charbagh, or four-part garden style. After Afghanistan's tumultuous history, the gardens underwent a significant restoration process, which began in 2002 by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. Restored to its former glory, the garden now serves as a serene escape from the bustling streets of Kabul, offering a space where visitors can enjoy the sight of terraces, water channels, and the original waterworks that reflect traditional Mughal garden design. The site includes Babur's tomb, a mosque, and a pavilion, which houses an exhibition about the site's history. The gardens also have pavilions that were built at the time of the last Afghan king, providing a glimpse of more recent history.
