Best Time to Visit Hangzhou Botanical Garden

Spring, particularly from late March to early May, is arguably the most beautiful season to visit the Hangzhou Botanical Garden. During this period, the garden explodes with color and life, with the vibrant hues of cherry blossoms, peonies, and azaleas creating a splendid display. The weather is comfortable — mild and not too humid, which is perfect for leisurely walks among the flora. The temperature ranges from 9°C to 20°C (48°F to 68°F), thus light jackets or sweaters are recommended for the cooler mornings and evenings. Sightseeing during the weekdays is preferable as weekends tend to attract larger crowds and can be quite busy.

Autumn, from September to November, is another favorable time for a visit, offering the chance to see the golden and crimson tones of the fall foliage. The temperature during this time is pleasantly cool, ranging approximately from 15°C to 28°C (59°F to 82°F), which provides an excellent climate for outdoor activities. Moreover, the Hangzhou Botanical Garden hosts the Chrysanthemum Exhibition around November, where various species and arrangements of chrysanthemums can be admired. Though autumn brings fewer flowers compared to spring, the serene beauty of the season's changing leaves against the traditional pavilions and tranquil landscapes creates a peaceful and picturesque setting.
