From Yangon
Travelers starting from Yangon can reach Indein by air, bus, or train, followed by a boat trip.
- By Air: The quickest way is to fly from Yangon to Heho Airport, which is the closest airport to Inle Lake. After arriving at Heho Airport, you can hire a taxi or shared minibus to get to Nyaungshwe town. The road journey might take around an hour.
- By Bus: There are overnight buses available from Yangon to Nyaungshwe. The journey typically takes about 10-12 hours.
- By Train: While more scenic, the train is also the slowest option and can take over 30 hours. From Yangon, you would take a train to Shwenyaung, the closest station to the lake, and then transfer by road to Nyaungshwe.
From Mandalay
From Mandalay, the options are similar, with air travel being the fastest and buses also available for overnight travel.
Boat to Indein Village
