Spring (March to May) is often considered the ideal time to visit Itchan Kala, which is the inner town of the ancient city of Khiva. During these months, the weather is generally pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C, which makes exploring the open-air museums, majestic fortresses, minarets, and madrasahs quite comfortable. The comfortable temperature encourages longer walking tours and outdoor activities, such as attending cultural events or exploring the local handicraft market. Additionally, spring is perfect for photography enthusiasts due to the soft natural lighting and the bloom of flowers, which add vibrant colors to the historic backdrop.

Moreover, the autumnal light casts a golden hue over the city’s intricate tile work, enhancing the visual appeal of its many UNESCO-listed monuments. To experience the local culture at its most vibrant, time your visit to coincide with the Navruz celebration, which usually takes place in March and is celebrated with traditional music, dance, and feasts.
