Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm is located approximately 14 kilometers from Puerto Princesa City proper, in Palawan, Philippines. It is an open-air penal colony that covers a vast area over several hectares.
At Iwahig Prison, you’ll be able to see a unique system where prisoners are somewhat free to roam large farming areas. There might be cultural presentations, souvenir shops selling items made by the inmates, and a glimpse of a different kind of correctional facility life. It is, however, important to remember that it is a place of rehabilitation and visitors should be respectful at all times.
For more information and current visitation guidelines, contact the Management Office of Iwahig Penal Farm or the Puerto Princesa tourism office.
