James Bond Island, known locally as Ko Tapu, is situated in the scenic Phang Nga Bay in Thailand. It became famous through the 1974 James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun' and has since been a magnet for tourists. It's a striking limestone karst tower, one of the many such islets in Phang Nga Bay, but its claim to fame is the role it played in the Bond film. The surrounding waters are a stunning shade of emerald green, and the bay is dotted with similar limestone monoliths. A visit offers spectacular photo opportunities and a peek into the unique marine geomorphology of the region. While you can’t actually go onto James Bond Island due to its protected status, boat tours allow tourists to get close enough for a good look and photos. These tours often include sea canoeing, visits to surrounding caves, and stops at nearby islands or floating villages.
