Phang Nga Bay, located near Phuket in Thailand, is renowned for its stunning limestone karsts that jut vertically out of the emerald-green water. Covering an area of approximately 400 sq km, this bay is home to some 100 islands, each offering its own unique sights. One of the most famous landmarks in the bay is James Bond Island, which was featured in 'The Man with the Golden Gun.' The region is also known for its beautiful caves, archaeological sites, and mangroves, which can often be explored by kayaks. The local communities, mainly fishermen, live on stilt houses and add to the charm of Phang Nga Bay. The bay’s marine national park status helps protect the delicate ecosystem here. Experiencing Phang Nga Bay includes taking boat tours to witness the incredible limestone formations, exploring sea caves and lagoons, and observing the diverse wildlife, including various bird species, reptiles, and fish. The best time to visit is during the dry season when the water is calmest and the weather most conducive for outdoor activities.
