Overview

The ancient Keshi Fortress is located in the historical city of Merv, which is one of Turkmenistan's most significant archaeological sites. Merv was once a major oasis-city along the Silk Road and is situated near the modern town of Mary.

Getting to Keshi Fortress

1. By Air:

   The nearest international airport is Mary Airport (MYP). International visitors can catch connecting flights to Mary from the capital city of Ashgabat. Upon arrival at Mary Airport, you can hire a taxi or arrange a tour to reach the site.

2. By Road:

   Keshi Fortress, located within the Ancient Merv State Historical and Cultural Park, is approximately 30 kilometers from Mary city. Visitors can rent a car, take a local taxi, or join an organized tour from Mary to reach the fortress.

3. By Rail:

   There is a railway station in Mary city. Trains from other parts of Turkmenistan, such as Ashgabat, will stop here. Once you arrive at Mary Railway Station, you can take a taxi or arrange a local tour guide to visit the fortress.
