Khan Jahan Ali's Tank is a notable historical and religious site located in the city of Bagerhat, within the Khulna division of Bangladesh. Also known as Thakur Dighi, the tank bears the name of the celebrated Sufi saint Khan Jahan Ali, who was instrumental in spreading Islam in the region during the 15th century. The tank is part of the ancient city, entitled as the Shait Gumbad Mosque city and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its remarkable medieval Muslim architecture. This vast artificial tank is surrounded by lush greenery and serves as a serene spot for both locals and tourists. It also accommodates a variety of fish, and according to local legend, a sacred crocodile used to inhabit these waters. Visitors often feed the fish and enjoy boat rides on the tranquil waters of the tank. Close to this spot, there are several other historic mosques, mausoleums, and architectural ruins that reflect the pre-Mughal Islamic architecture of the Bengal Sultanate, making it a destination rich with cultural history.
