Khulna is a city in the southwest part of Bangladesh and is the third-largest city in the country, as well as the administrative seat of Khulna District and Khulna Division. Covering approximately 59.57 square kilometers, the city is situated along the Rupsha and Bhairab rivers. Featuring a combination of vast mangrove forests, notable for the Sundarbans, and diverse aquatic habitats, Khulna plays a significant ecological role in the region. It's also an economic hub, thanks to its industrial and maritime facilities, including shipbuilding, jute, paper, and hardboard industries. Additionally, the city boasts numerous educational institutions, showcasing Bengali culture and traditions. Khulna is a gateway to the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest and home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. Tourism is also growing, with attractions such as the Sixty Dome Mosque in the nearby city of Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
