Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center (Khan Shatyr) in Nur Sultan (formerly known as Astana), Kazakhstan, is a distinctive architectural project and a monumental example of contemporary design. Officially opened in July 2010, the center was designed by the illustrious British architect Sir Norman Foster. This iconic tent-like structure, which is a marquee of massive proportions, stands at a height of 150 meters, encompassing an area of approximately 140,000 square meters. It has been labeled the world's largest tent. Its transparent material allows sunlight through, which, in conjunction with environmental control systems, ensures a comfortable interior climate. Inside Khan Shatyr, a wide range of leisure facilities can be found, including a shopping center, a miniature park, a boating river, and entertainment venues that emulate an urban-scale internal park, beach, and town square, complete with its own microclimate. The remarkable feat not only reflects Kazakhstan's cultural affinities but also thrusts Nur Sultan into the spotlight as a city with futuristic intentions and grand architectural endeavors.
