Bayterek Tower, also known as the 'Tree of Life', is a prominent landmark and symbol of post-independent Kazakhstan, located in the capital city, Nur-Sultan (formerly known as Astana). Completed in 2002, the tower was designed by the architect Akmurza Rustembekov, with the concept being inspired by a folktale about a mythical tree of life and a magic bird of happiness, Samruk. The tower stands at a height of 105 meters and features a gold-tinted sphere with a diameter of 22 meters, which represents the egg laid by the bird on the tree of life. Visitors can ascend to an observation deck situated within the sphere for panoramic views of the cityscape. The structure's design reflects the modernity and growth of Kazakhstan, while the mythological symbolism underscores the nation's cultural heritage. Bayterek Tower has become a hub for tourist activity, offering visitors an insightful glimpse into the nation's aspirations and artistic expression.
