Ideal visit duration: Half-day to 1 day
Ko Phi Phi Le is one of the two main islands of the Phi Phi archipelago located in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of Thailand. Known for its breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, Ko Phi Phi Le became famous worldwide after the release of the movie 'The Beach' starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which was filmed at Maya Bay on the island. The island spans about 6.6 square kilometers and is characterized by sheer limestone cliffs, stunning rock formations, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant marine life, making it a paradise for snorkelers and divers. The island is uninhabited and has been designated a National Park to preserve its natural beauty and ecosystems. Tourists are drawn to its several bays and coves, with Maya Bay being the most renowned. Accessible only by boat, Ko Phi Phi Le can be visited on day trips from the larger, inhabited Ko Phi Phi Don. Its shores offer white sandy beaches and the opportunity to witness a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and colorful fish. Due to its protected status, overnight stays on Ko Phi Phi Le are not allowed to ensure minimal human impact on the delicate environment.
