Mosquito Island, also known as Koh Yung, is part of the Phi Phi archipelago located in the Andaman Sea in Thailand. It's less than 2 kilometers off the northernmost tip of Phi Phi Don, the main and largest island of the Phi Phi Islands. The island gets its name from the swarms of mosquitoes that are said to inhabit the island at certain times of the year, although this is more pronounced at dusk and shouldn’t deter visitors. Mosquito Island boasts stunning beaches with white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for snorkeling, swimming, and diving. The surrounding marine environment is rich in coral reefs and diverse marine life, providing an underwater spectacle for ocean enthusiasts. Mosquito Island is less developed and commercialized than other parts of the Phi Phi Islands, offering a more tranquil and natural experience. The island's rugged and rocky landscape, with lush vegetation, can be explored although it is important for visitors to be environmentally conscious to preserve its unspoilt beauty.
