Kumzar Village is one of the most northernly settlements in Oman, situated in the Musandam Peninsula. It is known for its unique culture and beautiful landscapes.
Travel to Khasab
Before reaching Kumzar Village, you will first need to travel to Khasab, the regional capital of the Musandam Peninsula.
- By Air: You can take a flight from the Omani capital, Muscat, to Khasab Airport. Flights are operated by Oman Air and usually take about an hour.
- By Road: If you're coming from the United Arab Emirates, you can drive to Khasab through the border crossing at Tibat. The trip from Dubai typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.
- By Ferry: You can also take a ferry from Muscat operated by the National Ferries Company. This scenic route offers views of the Musandam Peninsula's coastline.
Reaching Kumzar Village
Once in Khasab, you can reach Kumzar Village only by boat as there are no roads leading to it.
- By Boat: You can arrange for a local dhow (traditional Omani boat) to take you to Kumzar. These boats are typically used for tours but can also be chartered for direct trips to the village. The journey by boat can take approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the weather conditions.
It is advised to plan your trip in advance and check the local weather and sea conditions. Also, ensure you have the necessary permissions if required, as Kumzar is located in a sensitive geopolitical area due to its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.
