How to Reach Kuramathi, Maldives

The exotic island of Kuramathi in the Maldives is a sought-after paradise destination for travelers around the world. To reach this beautiful island, you will need to first travel to the capital city of Malé.

Step 1: Flight to Malé International Airport (MLE)

Fly into Malé International Airport (MLE), also known as Velana International Airport, located on Hulhulé Island in the North Malé Atoll, near the capital island Malé. The airport services international flights from many major cities around the globe.

Step 2: Transfer to Kuramathi Island

Upon arriving in Malé, visitors have two main options to reach Kuramathi Island:

• Seaplane Transfer - A scenic seaplane journey offers an aerial view of the stunning atolls. The seaplane ride takes about 20 minutes from Malé and provides direct access to Kuramathi. Seaplane transfers are operated by Trans Maldivian Airways and can be booked in advance through your resort. Note that seaplanes only operate during daylight hours, so ensure your international flight allows for a timely connection.
• Speedboat Transfer - Alternatively, a speedboat transfer can be arranged which takes approximately 90 minutes. Speedboat transfers are available throughout the day and can be more flexible in terms of scheduling compared to seaplane transfers. This option can also be organized by the resort.

It is highly recommended to arrange your transfers directly with Kuramathi Island Resort before your arrival to ensure a seamless journey to the island. The resort usually bundles transfer costs with the accommodation package for convenience.

Important Considerations

Remember to provide your arrival and departure flight details to the resort well in advance. Keep in mind the luggage restrictions for seaplane transfers as they are typically more restrictive than those for commercial flights. Carry-on bags should not weigh more than 5kg, and checked luggage should not exceed 20kg per person.
