Step 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Step 2: Travel to Syabrubesi

From Kathmandu, you will have to make your way to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek. You can reach Syabrubesi by:

  • Local Bus: A more economical option is to take a local bus from Kathmandu. The journey may take approximately 6-8 hours. Buses usually depart from the Machhapokhari Bus Park.
  • Private Jeep or Vehicle: For a more comfortable trip or if traveling in a group, hiring a private jeep or vehicle is recommended. This option allows you to enjoy the scenery without the crowds and with the flexibility to stop as you wish.

Step 3: Trekking to Lauribina Pass

Starting from Syabrubesi, the trek to Lauribina Pass involves several days of hiking. The standard itinerary includes stops in Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, Kyanjin Gompa, and finally Lauribina Pass, typically reached on the 7th or 8th day of the trek.

During the trek, you could encounter changing weather and altitude sickness due to the high elevation. Acclimatization days are crucial in places like Kyanjin Gompa.

  • Ensure you are properly acclimated to the altitude before attempting to cross the pass.
  • Hire a guide or porter if you are not familiar with the trekking routes.
  • Check the weather forecast and plan your trek during the optimal season (March to May and September to November).

  • Pack essential gear, including warm clothing, a good-quality sleeping bag, and suitable hiking boots.
  • Protect yourself from the sun by wearing sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
  • Permits: Ensure you have the necessary permits, including the Langtang National Park entry permit and the TIMS (Trekker's Information Management Systems) card.
