The Lido of Venice is a slender island which acts as a barrier between Venice and the Adriatic Sea. Known for its beaches and the Venice Film Festival, reaching the Lido is quite straightforward.
From Venice: The most common and easiest way to get to Lido from Venice is by taking a Vaporetto. You can catch line 1 or line 5.1 which will take you directly to Lido's main waterbus station, called Santa Maria Elisabetta (SME). The journey offers a scenic route along the Grand Canal.
For Cars and Bicycles: If you are bringing a car or a bicycle, you may use the ferry services from Tronchetto Island, which take you directly to Lido. The ferry line is 17 and you can buy tickets at the spot or book in advance.
From Marco Polo Airport: Visitors coming from the Marco Polo Airport can catch the Alilaguna water shuttle (Blue Line), which directly connects the airport to Lido SME. It is a convenient option though slightly more expensive than the Vaporetto.
Alternative from Marco Polo Airport: A budget-friendly alternative is to take a bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma in Venice and then transfer to a Vaporetto line 1 or 5.1 to the Lido.
Private Transfer: For a faster and more private service, you can hire a water taxi from various points in Venice including the airport, which will take you directly to your destination on Lido. However, noted that water taxis can be quite costly.
Before embarking on your trip, don't forget to check the latest schedules and ticket prices for the Vaporetto as these can change throughout the year.
