Worth a brief stopover to visit this historic tea plantation
Definitely worth a brief stop over, even in December when no tea production is taking place. The guy in the shop is excellent in talking through the background to this plantation and the range of tea produced at this historic place. Toilets are inaccessible to individuals unable to navigate steps and of dubious cleanliness. Various tea can be purchased at reasonable price.

Don't go
There is nothing here. If you want to see the tea estate or the tea making process, reach at some odd time in the morning, but not sure if that still works.

All you want to know about tea
On the way up to or down from Kurseong, it is a must-visit place. The aroma of tea around is invigorating. The factory tour is quite informative with the guide explaining the complex process of tea making in simple terms, which even kids were able to follow. We had a live demo of the difference between white tea, green tea, and black tea. The place has an old charm with machinery dated back to its inception. The added bonus is the outlet inside the premises where you can buy the best Makaibari flavors at a discounted rate.

A living industrial archaeology in tea trade
Quite a number of reviews have appeared earlier and my thanks to those member friends. As frequently referred, it’s the world's first biodynamic estate - the oldest tea plantation - that is more than a century and a half old, which has been tended by four generation of the Banerjee family. Founded in 1859, its uniqueness appears to be the pricey brew of Moonlight Silver Tip's tea-leaves that are harvested between midnight and 3 a.m. once every 108 years on a full-moon night in June the goes on sale in UK. It's been described as the Holy Grail for tea connoisseurs. Built entirely in wood, bamboo and cast iron, the factory is worth visiting not only to lean the processing but also to enjoy and appreciate this living industrial archaeology, which is also functioning perfectly till date, preserving with care, its unique atmosphere and heritage.
