Best Time to Visit Manjanggul Cave, Jeju

The ideal time to visit Manjanggul Cave in Jeju, South Korea, is during the spring months, particularly from late March to late June. During this period, the weather in Jeju is mild and pleasant, with an average temperature range that is comfortable for exploring caves—usually hovering between 10°C to 16°C (50°F to 60°F). Additionally, spring in Jeju is celebrated for its beautiful cherry blossoms and canola flower fields, making it a picturesque time for travelers to experience the natural beauty of the island above ground before delving into the subterranean wonders of Manjanggul Cave. The spring also offers the added advantage of avoiding the peak tourist season that typically comes in the summer, meaning fewer crowds and a more tranquil exploration of the cave.

Another suitable period to visit is autumn, from September to November, when the weather cools down again after the hot and humid summer, and typhoon risks are diminished. The cave maintains a relatively constant temperature year-round, but the outside weather can affect the comfort of your trip to and from the cave. During autumn, Jeju showcases a rich palette of fall colors, and the crisp air makes for a refreshing journey. It's also worth considering that Manjanggul Cave is a popular attraction, so visiting during weekdays or early in the day can help avoid large groups of tourists. Regardless of the season, it is advised to bring a light jacket as the cave temperature is cooler, typically around 11°C to 21°C (52°F to 70°F), and to wear sturdy shoes for navigating the uneven terrain inside the cave.
