By River Ferry

The most popular mode of transportation to Mingun Pahtodawgyi is by boat. Tourists generally take a river ferry from the Mandalay Gawwein jetty. The scenic ride along the Ayeyarwady River takes about 40 minutes and provides a glimpse of life along the river. Hiring a private taxi or joining a tour might be the best options for convenience and to gain insightful commentary during the trip.

This option allows for flexibility in scheduling and the chance for a more intimate exploration of the river. Though this option is more expensive, it may be worthwhile for groups or those seeking a more luxurious experience.

By Motorcycle or Bicycle

Adventurous travelers might opt for renting a motorcycle or bicycle and take on the journey themselves. After crossing the bridge in Sagaing, the route to Mingun offers a chance to see rural landscapes and small villages. Remember that this option requires a good level of fitness and familiarity with the local traffic, which can be chaotic.

Please note that all foreign visitors to Mingun must pay an entrance fee, typically in cash and local currency (Myanmar Kyat). It's also important to dress respectfully when visiting as it is a significant cultural site.
