Getting to Mosquito Island

Mosquito Island, also known as Koh Yung, is part of the Phi Phi archipelago, located in the Andaman Sea, off the coast of Phuket, Thailand. To reach Mosquito Island, you have to first make your way to Phi Phi Islands. Here are the steps:

1. Arrive in Phuket or Krabi – Your journey to Mosquito Island will typically start by flying into Phuket International Airport or Krabi Airport from major cities in and around Thailand.
2. Transfer to the pier – From either Phuket or Krabi, take a taxi or bus to Rassada Pier in Phuket or Klong Jirad Pier in Krabi.
3. Ferry to Phi Phi Islands – Catch a ferry to Phi Phi Islands (Tonsai Pier). The journey can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on your point of departure. Make sure to check the ferry schedules as they can vary seasonally.
4. Local boat to Mosquito Island – Once you arrive at Tonsai Pier on Phi Phi Don, you can hire a longtail boat to take you to Mosquito Island. The ride is about 15 to 20 minutes.

Please Note: Mosquito Island is a popular day-trip destination, so it’s best visited as part of a guided tour or by hiring a private longtail boat from Phi Phi Don. Remember, it is part of the Phi Phi National Park, and thus you might need to pay a small national park fee.

Travel Tips

• Speedboats and ferries can be affected by weather conditions, especially during the monsoon season from May to October, so it's a good idea to check the weather forecast before planning your trip.
• Always carry sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water to stay hydrated as the weather can be quite hot and sunny.
• Confirm the times for the last boat returning to Phi Phi Don to ensure you don't get stranded on Mosquito Island.
• When hiring a private boat, it's advisable to agree on the price before departing and ensure that life jackets are provided.
