Early Tourism

Tourism in the Cameron Highlands has roots dating back to the colonial era when the British were drawn to the region's cool climate. Initially developed as a hill station, the area became a respite from the tropical heat for British officials. The enchanting landscape of the Mossy Forest was discovered by these early settlers and adventurers. By the mid-20th century, it emerged as a full-fledged tourist destination, attracting travelers seeking both its climatic relief and its natural beauty.

Growth in Popularity

Post-Malaysian independence, the Cameron Highlands continued to flourish as a local and international tourist destination. The Mossy Forest, in particular, became increasingly popular among nature enthusiasts, hikers, and those fascinated by its unique ecosystem. Conservation Efforts

With the surge in popularity, the need for conservation became pressing to protect the fragile habitats within the Mossy Forest. Efforts by both government and non-governmental organizations have resulted in the implementation of measures to preserve the area's biodiversity.
