Mount Qingcheng, located near Chengdu in the Sichuan province of China, is one of the ancient cradles of Taoism in the country, with its history dating back over 2,000 years. This mountain is renowned for its serene and mystical ambiance, lush greenery, numerous Taoist temples, and cultural significance. Mount Qingcheng offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city life and is divided into two main sections: the Front Mountain (Qian Shan) and the Rear Mountain (Hou Shan). The Front Mountain features the majority of the cultural and historical sites, including the Jianfu Palace, Tianshi Cave, and the Shangqing Temple. The Rear Mountain is less developed, offering more natural scenery and hiking trails for nature lovers. Cable cars are available to help visitors ascend part of the mountain. The mountain was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 as part of the 'Daoist Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System.' It provides a unique glimpse into the development of the Chinese philosophy of balance and harmony between humans and nature.
