This marked the beginning of tourism linked to the site.

The Growth of Tourism

Initially appealing to scholars and archaeology aficionados, the museum started gaining notoriety after the completion of renovations and the official opening to the public in 1937. Post World War II saw a global increase in cultural tourism, and the museum attracted a growing number of international visitors interested in the Hittite, Phrygian, and Urartian collections, among others. Over the subsequent decades, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations has become an essential stop for cultural tourists visiting Turkey.

There has been a noticeable move towards interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations to engage the museum's increasingly diverse audience.
