The Museum of Wooden Architecture is located in the Vitoslavlitsy village near Veliky Novgorod, Russia. This open-air museum showcases a unique collection of wooden structures, reflecting the traditional Russian folk architecture. Spanning over an area of approximately 33 hectares, the museum was founded in 1964 to preserve wooden buildings from the Novgorod region that were at risk of destruction. It comprises more than 30 historic buildings including ancient wooden churches, chapels, residential houses, and mills dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries. These buildings were carefully dismantled at their original locations and reassembled at the museum site. The Museum of Wooden Architecture not only serves as a historical exhibit but also as an active cultural venue. Traditional festivals, folk performances, and craft workshops are held throughout the year, offering visitors a glimpse into Russia's rich cultural heritage. The picturesque setting on the shore of Lake Myachino and the proximity to the World Heritage Site of the Novgorod Kremlin add to the museum's appeal.
