Best Time to Visit Naphak Lake, Tura

Nestled in the picturesque West Garo Hills of Meghalaya, Naphak Lake is a serene destination that offers tranquil ambiance and lush greenery to its visitors. The ideal time to visit Naphak Lake is during the post-monsoon and winter months, stretching from October to April. During this period, the weather is pleasantly cool, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 25°C, making outdoor activities and sightseeing quite comfortable. The monsoon season, which lasts from May to September, is less recommended for travel due to heavy rainfall that can affect mobility and may sometimes lead to landslides or flooding in this region.

October marks the end of the monsoon and the landscape around Naphak Lake is particularly lush and vibrant, offering breathtaking views. Moreover, the winter months, particularly between November and February, are a great time to witness the migratory birds that flock to the lake, turning it into a paradise for bird watchers. The period also coincides with several local festivals like Wangala, the festival of the Garo tribe, providing an opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Meghalaya. It's advisable to carry light woolens during the evening as it can get chilly, particularly from December to February.
