History of the New Government Center

Conceived as part of a move to decongest the downtown area, the New Government Center was initiated to accommodate the growing needs of the local government. The construction of this monumental building began in the early 2000s and was completed in 2005. Designed with a blend of modern architecture and local cultural influences, the NGC stands out with its extensive grounds and striking aesthetic.

Tourism at the New Government Center

Initially serving strictly as a government facility, the NGC has since integrated tourism elements into its identity. Surrounded by expansive lawns and scenic landscapes, it provides a serene environment where citizens and tourists alike can relax, engage in various outdoor activities, or simply enjoy the view. It has become a favorite spot for jogging, Zumba sessions, and family picnics.

The area around the NGC lights up during the evening, offering a vibrant atmosphere with local food stalls and pop-up markets that attract visitors. The NGC has also made a mark by hosting significant events such as the MassKara Festival celebrations, concerts, and government-sponsored events, which have further boosted its status as a tourist attraction.
