Best Time To Visit Newcastle Castle (Newcastle Upon Tyne) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Newcastle Castle

Spring (March to May) is often considered an excellent time to visit Newcastle Castle in Newcastle upon Tyne. During these months, you'll be able to enjoy the historical site alongside the blooming spring flowers in the surrounding parks and along the River Tyne. The weather is mild, with fewer rain showers than in the fall, which makes exploring both the indoor and outdoor aspects of the Castle more pleasant. Additionally, tourism is not at its peak, enabling a more leisurely visit without the crowds that come with summer. Visiting around late April to early May may offer the most comfortable temperatures and the blossoming of local flora, providing a picturesque backdrop for your visit.

Summer (June to August) brings the warmest weather and is the peak tourist season. The Castle sees longer opening hours, and the city buzzes with outdoor activities, festivals, and events. However, expect more tourists and potentially longer wait times for attractions. Early summer, before the schools break for holidays, or late summer, as school sessions resume, can present a good balance between enjoying the vibrant city life and avoiding the busiest times. While these months offer the best chance for sunny days, it’s wise to book your accommodations and activities in advance due to the higher demand.
