Must-Try Foods In NS Documentation Center (Cologne) For Tourists 2026 - 2027

Food History of NS Documentation Center, Cologne, Germany The NS Documentation Center of Cologne, located at Appellhofplatz, is known primarily for its historical significance rather than its food history. It is housed in what was once the Gestapo headquarters during World War II and now serves as a memorial and museum examining the atrocities committed during the Nazi regime. Food does not directly tie into the history of the Documentation Center itself, but Cologne has a rich culinary tradition influenced by its history and geographic location. After the war, Cologne was part of a significant rebuilding effort and encountered many cultural influences, which included culinary ones. Post-war food rationing and scarcity led to a cuisine that was simple and hearty, with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Must-Try Top 10 Food Dishes in Cologne, Germany for Tourists 1.
